Located on the southwestern side of Mount Desert Island (nicknamed the less trampled 'Quietside'), the town of Southwest Harbor is thought to be a historically romantic icon of seafaring coastal life. It is ranked as one of the top ten commercial fishing harbors in the state of Maine. Some of the world's most spectacular sailboats and yachts are built by more than ten boat builders on the island. The small town has the perfect mix of harbor life, history, Maine crafts, shopping and restaurants that fulfill a tourist's needs. Picnicking needs - Food/Wine/Sundries

Maine Weather Nbm of africa.
The weather in Maine can vary a great deal. Daytime temperatures can be anywhere from 10-20 degrees warmer than in the evening. Just be sure to bring with you a lightweight jacket as well as layers. It's also a good idea to bring a rain shoe, just in case. We do have a few rain ponchos and umbrellas we can lend to our guests (although not enough to go around). And, don't forget to use bug spray if you go hiking - we have them to prep before you venture into the woods.
The humidity levels remain relatively low even during our warmest months - such a bonus!
Maine Foliage
In the autumn, leaves usually begin to change color in late September and peak around mid-October.
